Natural Methods for Curing Addiction

A Survey Course for Healing the Mind, Body, and Soul using Psychology, Ayurveda, and Spirituality

Addiction is a disorder that can create dysfunction across multiple domains in a person’s life. Relationships, health, and finances can all be destroyed from addiction.

Unfortunately for many people addiction is a lifelong disorder that never becomes resolved. People may come off of the substance for a while only to be pulled back into the trap months or years down the road.

In order to maximize one’s ability to destroy and thus cure addiction, a multi-pronged approach is helpful. This way the addiction is attacked not only psychologically, but also biologically and spiritually.

The problem with modern day addiction treatment is it tends to focus on purely one or two types of treatment without curing the underlying disorder. This may help with the symptoms, but often does not take care of the cause of the symptoms.

In this course we are going to explore three distinct healing systems for understanding and treating addiction: Psychology, Ayurveda, and Spirituality. Within each of these systems are multiple techniques for combating addiction.

Because we are all unique it is important to have options to select what best fits our personality, and biology. This course will provide you with a repertoire of angles build the best strategy for you, your loved one, or patients.

We will go over:

Three Modalities Explored:

Psychology

Psychology is a modern-day western based form of therapy that looks to cure a person through changing thought patterns, belief structures and behavior. It began development in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and more and more research is added to this day.

Ayurveda

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian form of natural medicine. It is widely known in India as the “mother of all medicines”, as many have traced Ayurveda back to the basis of many modern- day forms of medicine and surgery. It was written into texts 3000 years ago, and is based off looking at the body, food, and herbs through the 3-dosha system: Vata (Air), Pitta (Fire), and Kapha (Earth).

Spirituality

Looking at addiction through the spiritual lens is an ancient way to view addiction. Addiction can act as an idol that substitutes our desire to connect with God. Through cutting ourselves off from the holy spirit we miss the inner peace that can only come through true communion.

Through combating addiction through natural means, we can heal ourselves from the inside out. We can get to the root cause of the problem without relying on synthetic medicines or chemicals. This can lead to greater empowerment, and feelings of confidence moving forward.

This course will provide you with an overview of how to understand and tackle addiction, thus providing a foundation to work from. Bad habits can be difficult to uproot and remove so it can be helpful to use the insights that the wise healers have brought us over the ages.
