From starting up to closing a project process.

PRINCE2 project management is a process-based approach focusing on organization and control over the whole project, from start to finish. That means projects are skillfully planned before kickoff; each stage is structured throughout and closes when the project concludes. Prince 2 belongs to a family of waterfall methodologies such as APMP and PMP, which focuses on a sequential way of planning a project.

The PRINCE methodology was initially developed in the late 1980s as a way for the U.K. government to manage IT projects. In 1996, a team of project management specialists and public and private organizations reviewed and updated the approach to make it more widely applicable to various industries. Thus, the new and improved PRINCE2 was born.
