Learn to think in systems and develop interventions to help build the foundations of a resilient and sustainable society

Building a sustainable society is our greatest challenge yet is often misunderstood. It will require much more than new infrastructure and smart technology. Instead, we need to address the deep-rooted systems of our society and how our economies, environments, and political systems are intertwined. It's a massive task - where to begin?

This course helps you understand the systems around us that drive society's sustainability. You'll learn to recognize relationships and know where best to intervene and realize sustainability improvements for the long term. It will introduce and utilize Symbiosis in Development (SiD), an integrated systems thinking framework that combines theory and practice to enable holistic thinking and build practical solutions. It also gives you insight into the values of a multi-disciplinary approach, teamwork, and tools such as system mapping.

To support this, we cover a few areas more in-depth. You'll first gain insight into systems dynamics, network effects, and the concept of resilience. These help you think holistically and better recognize systemic patterns and the root causes of the many issues affecting our world. It'll also help you better understand impact scans across different dimensions of sustainability.

This course has been given in various forms since 2010. Most course graduates later find themselves making changes in their professional and personal lives, re-framing the way they see success, leading to new careers and life paths.
