Welcome to the course of “Mastering Generator Single Line Diagram and Trip Matrix”. In power engineering, a single-line diagram (SLD), also sometimes called one-line diagram, is a symbolic representation of a three-phase electric power system.

The one-line diagram has its largest application in power flow studies. Electrical elements such as circuit breakers, transformers, capacitors, bus bars, and conductors are shown by standardized schematic symbols. Instead of representing each of three phases with a separate line or terminal, only one conductor is represented.

Whenever it comes to start new project, define scope of work, Single line diagram is always the most important document to consider & prepare. Furthermore single line diagram is also required to prepare shutdown / maintenance method statement.

Generator Single Line Diagram is most unique, in this training I will explain SLD & trip matrix of power plant. Tripping for power plant is complex there are so many options to select from various tripping command. Here we are talking about very large generator of 400MWs, we will discuss all possible tripping from protection systems of Gen-Power Transformer, Aux Transformer, Generators & excitation system. We will also discuss why certain components are issuing trip in a particular situation. For example why Generator differential protection is only giving tripping to generator circuit breaker & SEE/SFC. We will go through the trip matrix.

Following topics are covered in this training:

· Introduction to Single Line Diagram
