A Martial Arts Instructor Credentialing Program

The purpose of this course is to offer an Instructor Credentialing Program that martial arts schools can implement to deliver a more comprehensive training experience for students. The overall program is broken into 15 lectures aimed at preparing a student to not only teach martial arts, but to do so in an ethical and efficient manner.

While this program is intended to be part of the certification for Hoshin Kan Martial Arts Instructors, it can be applied to any type of martial arts. The program is set up to be used primarily in styles that utilize Kata. That being said, if an organization wanted to use this program, they are free to modify or remove any elements that are not in keeping with their organizational standards.

Seminars will be broken into three categories: safety, leadership, and instruction.

The safety block on instruction includes: Referee Certification, Risk Management for Techniques, Safety within the Dojo, and information about Heads Up training and CPR certification. Note: Students will not become CPR certified through this course.

The leadership block includes: Public Speaking, Communication Theory, Conflict Resolution, Ethics in the Dojo, and information about SafeSport training.

The instruction block includes: Teaching Methodology, Building a Curriculum, Interpreting a Kata, Developing a Drill, and Conducting a Test.
