Personal Protective Equipment comes in all shapes, sizes and colors.  The hazard or hazards must be identified in order to pick the correct form of PPE.  The course will cover hazards found in the workplace and has a modifiable PPE hazard assessment form.  Performing and document a Personal Protective Equipment Hazard Assessment is a requirement in the United States.  This course covers the hierarchy of hazard control, head protection, eye and face protection, foot protection, hand protection, body protection, respiratory protection, fall protection and finally hearing protection.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) should be worn and used as an absolute last resort.  PPE requires the person to make a decision to wear it.  PPE is hot, uncomfortable, may reduce visibility.  If certain forms of Personla Protective Equipment are used such as respiratory protection, additional medical clearance in the form of a physical and respirator fit test must also be completed.  A PPE hazard assessment is needed to ensure that the task or operation is broken down and all hazards have been discovered and can be mitigated.
